Your Smile Was His Treasure — Don’t Lose It.
A poem dedicated to my friend who lost his father in COVID.
I may be far; my arms may not hug you
My fingers can not wipe your tears
I may not be able to console you
with my physical absence
But believe that I am always near
My heart sings the prayer
I can not change the course of events
But I'm part of your grief
I may not be present in happy times
But I'm here whenever you need me
Give me a call, drop me a message
Don’t say ‘Hi,’ and come straight to the point
I will think nothing of your absence
In my tough and challenging times
I’d be more than happy to help you
even if that is at 3 AM
Because of the distance, the time created
You may think twice before contacting
But don't hesitate
I am and will always be your friend
Whose heart has all the care, love, and concern
which was and will always be present.
